Unfortunately, It’s Me.

Solo Show, Detroit Contemporary Gallery, August 6-28, 2022

A few snaps from my reception on August 13 at Detroit Contemporary Gallery. “Unfortunately, It’s Me,” examines the dread of facing yourself in order to grow. I use personal images from childhood in metro-Detroit like Better Made chips, Big Boy restaurants, Boblo Island; to my dad’s lunchbox and after-school television marathons. The parody of the brands in my art offer a buffer to the painful truth i’m trying to face; loss, mendacity, infertility, insecurity.
